We were delighted to supply two Australian-made Roki Rocking Chairs for a Specialist Dementia Unit at Mackay Hospital in Queensland.
Travelling from Melbourne to Mackay, the chairs were selected to provide residents with a comfortable, supportive seating option that also offers the gentle movement of a traditional rocking chair.
Furniture within specialist dementia care environments needs to balance functionality and durability with comfort and a sense of home.
The Roki Rocking Chair features a supportive high back, upholstered arms and a solid timber rocking frame. Its familiar residential appearance makes it a welcoming alternative to more institutional-style seating, while the gentle rocking movement provides residents with another seating option within their living environment. or this project, the chairs were upholstered in a sophisticated @ Warwick Fabrics Babylon Coal complemented by the warmth of the natural timber frame.
One of the advantages of the Roki is that it is Australian made, allowing each chair to be customised to suit the individual facility.
Facilities can select their own upholstery fabric, colour and finish, making the Roki suitable for both new aged care developments and refurbishment projects where furniture needs to complement an existing interior scheme.
We look forward to hearing feedback from the staff and residents at the Specialist Dementia Unit in Mackay once the chairs have settled into their new home.
