At The Manor at Village Baxter, residents are enjoying the benefits of gardening again thanks to a wheelchair-accessible planter box supplied by Wentworth Care.
Designed to bring gardening within easy reach, the raised planter allows residents to comfortably plant, water and harvest vegetables without bending or kneeling. The integrated trellis provides support for climbing plants while the generous planting space encourages a mix of vegetables, herbs and flowers.
Since installation, residents have enthusiastically planted corn, leafy greens, herbs and companion flowers, transforming the planter into a thriving mini garden. Gardening activities like these provide meaningful engagement, encourage social interaction and create opportunities for residents to connect with nature.
The planter has quickly become a favourite feature in the courtyard, demonstrating how accessible gardening can support wellbeing, independence and enjoyment for residents.
